Amarjeet Kaypee

There always have been stories of 'have beens' who never got their due. In the world of Indian cricket, few names are always talked about in this context, names like K.P. Bhaskar, Rajinder Goel and that of Amarjeet Kaypee.
One of my childhood activities involved reading meticulously domestic cricket scores in the newspaper. It was this way that I first came across Kaypee's name, a name that will keep on figuring prominently again and again on regular basis. I always thought that one day this guy will play for the Country; he never did. And like Kaypee himself, I could never figure out why. I never saw Kaypee play in real, not even on TV, but I always had high regards for him. He was like those Heroes of Childhood who never fade from your memory no matter what. So if you now come to me and tell me the reasons for his non-inclusion and they might all be valid as well, I wonder that my views about Kaypee will change any how.
You can always find information about Kaypee on sites like Cricinfo and Wikipedia, but this was not supposed to be his biography, this is just a fan's respect to one of his childhood hero, who was, as that article on Cricinfo said, A dedicated cricketer that never got his due.

Tales of Today (A Song for My Darling Loneliness)

Coding is the flavour of the day; not headbanging, thats due to the algorithm (which is yet to figured out, in its completeness). If I dont bang my head, its due the headphone from which constantly circling are Rabbi's new songs from the album, 'Avengi Ja Nahin'.

I guess woh nahi aayegi, reasons are best known to Rabbi, but in real life she seldom returns. You can ask me why and I would say experience, 'Unnees, Unnees, Unnees, Unnees, Unnees, Unnees, Unnees ............... Unnees, Unnees, Unnees, Unnees, Unnees, Unnees baar'.

13th was Bhabhi's b'day, tomorrow it will be Appu's. Till last year both were celebrated together, this year one has already been through and the other will be through too, soon; sans me.

Loneliness, be my darling today,
cos
Solitude is a game I want to play.
Will take you in my arms
and I will dance the night away
with you.
Loneliness, will you be my darling tonight
we'll see through the wrongs
we'll see through the right;
Tomorrow may not be in our hand
and I guess you understand.
Loneliness, be my Darling
for its now
that I have your craving,
for its now that I have your need,
I sing this song for you
so wont you heed?
Like everyone else,
dont exist to cease;
Loneliness, be my darling, please.

Hmmm that turned out quite impromptu :) Well, enough of this one darling, I need to go back my headbanging darling, after all I am paid to be with her.....

Nostalgia (Revisited)

Thought this time I should try my hand on video blogging. Don't really know if this qualifies as one, but here it is anyway. The aim was to give the words a voice, color them with music and finally forge an amateur video. The tools needed for this task: an audio mixing software like Mixpad, which was available as a free download, windows movie maker and a voice recorder. Dont really know how good the final attempt is, so comments and feedback are more than welcome :)

Here's the poem ......

Woh shikayato ke din yaad aate hain

Har shaam ka roothna manana
Raaton ke sapno mein savere bitana
Routine ka romance, jabardasti ki taareefein
Ajeeb si chuppi aur fizul ki muskarahate
Woh baaton ki baaton mein
Na jaane kitne jahan simat jaate hain
Woh shikayato ke din yaad aate hain

Awara kasmo ke hisaab khaate
aur behisaab aahein
Chakkaro ka silsila
the jo kabhi yunhi
tere ghar ke lagaye
Barbad hui un dopahariyon ki garmiyan
Canteen mein thandi hoti chai ki chuskiyan
Umr ke us daur se
yeh daur gujre jaate hain
Woh shikayato ke din yaad aate hain

Na jaane kitne email
Din bhar mein kai baar
Har ek mein likhi hui
Bas yahi ek baat
Aaj jab padhta hoon
un khato ko kabhi kabhar
to uljalool un khato mein
sanware woh shabd bhikar jaate hain
Woh shikayato ke din yaad aate hain

Zamane the yeh kaun se
Jo bakso mein band maun se
Peele hue un panno par ikhtiyar
Taazuub kabhi un par
Kabhi dastako ke zor par
bina italla diye
woh jab yunhi chale aate hain
Main seenchta hoon aansoon se
un kitaabo ko kabhi jab
un peele panno mein rakhe
Sookhe phool muskarate hain
Woh shikayato ke din yaad aate hain

Woh shikayato ke din yaad aate hain.

Three Blank Pages from the Summer of 2K

Tucked in a bunch of beautiful colored papers
are the three blank pages;
Three blank pages
with a scent of 2K,
soaked in the summer heat
of the days long gone by,
from an era
that seems like a distant past.

To these pages belonged
the best ever lines
never written.
Three blank pages
recounting best phases of a life
that remained blank ....
.... like these pages.

Happy Birthday 2 U :)

A very Happy Birthday to you Dear. I don't really if it makes any sense but wishing you well is the least I can do and pray that god bless you divine love we always crave for and happiness we run behind.
Since the day of birth is not supposed to be melancholic, here are a lots of flowers for you to fill your world with fragrance of laughter and yes, chocolates to add to the sweetness of you.

In essence I don't know why I do this. This might be my obsession, my fixation or better, my entrapment; but like all the rituals one follows in life, you do it cos' it makes you happy :)

So here's to your laughter and happiness, a very happy birthday to you :)

The Trip To Dhanolti

You moved ahead, I moved afar
separated by distance and time
Now as I open your new year greeting
the trip to Dhanolti lingers on my mind,

Remember the walk of the January 1st
a trek to the Sarkhunda Devi
when snow has not yet fallen down
to cover the roads of Dhanolti,

The breakfast at the shop at the base
how delicious those paranthas taste
up in the distance, stood the Nanda Devi
the goddess at her majestic best,

We climbed to the temple over the hill top
stopping to look at the mountains so green
reached there by the noon and the goddess was sleeping
in her abode among the mountains so pristine,

On the other side of the temple
the panorama unfolded a visual treat
as there lay standing far in the distance
the Gangotri glacier, Kedar and Badri and all those holy peaks,

We trekked on all fours to a nearby hill top
where lay fallen the snow of the year bygone
those rays of the sun that shone so brightly
have forgotten to lit this corner unknown,

Down we came and went to Chamba
evening sinking into the sulking town
we began our long walk back to Dhanolti
listening to the mountain sounds,

Who knows how we slept that night
who knows what dreams we dreamt
and though we were looking forward to tomorrow
we silently wished for the day to never end,

Five years is quite some time
& few things have certainly changed
yet there are memories of the trip to Dhanolti
which like our friendship has remain unchanged.

BIT2K Reunion - Pittsburgh, 25th June 2006

6 years is a long time, but this reunion it never felt like so.
Have to say a moment to remember :)
Here's the day as it passed.

On the way to Pittsburgh, at the Pennsylvania State border. Early morning 7:00 AM.
Thats Rishi with me, 5 years on he resembles Anurag Verma 'Thakela'; of course minus the mooche ;)

Urs truly in a striking pose with authentic fake smile :)

Boom Boom Bang, 10 minutes into the game and Germany is already 2-0 up with the game as good as over. Time to move, everyone is damn hungry after the nights drive. Here we are at the Udipi, Avinash and Utti in front, Rishi in his typical Thakela mode (Did u notice the way he rests his chin on his hand; the typical ever-so-thoughtful pose). sumit singhal is chewing his nails, he is good at chewing other things as well. Description abt others in the party to follow.

Chul, Sips and Surd in front.

Singhal trying the AV pose, give it up man, that pose is Rishi's copyright.

Sardar aur uske funde.

Utti came from his galfrds house after watching Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and is still having a SRK hangover ("I luv U, BBBBBBB BITIANS"). I thought after a solid meal at Udipi, Nagarjuna style (even better if Ballaya style) wld have made more sense.

Utti and Sardar in front of the famous Pittsburgh Temple.

Banana Brothers, Thats sardar grinning on seeing the banana, u can call that the Banana Effect.

Anupam 'oori saala' Choubey in his Rajnikanth get up.

Chulbaaz trying his hand on 'Oori Saala' style. But thrs no comparison, Chobs the man when it comes to black goggles.

With a cigerrate in his hand, sardar finally felt like a man,
Before that what he was feeling like is anybody's guess.

Dewani and Sardar,
BTW stripes was in for the day.

U either get 'STRIPPED' or u wear BLUE

Relak-singh at the Starbucks; myself doing matthapacchi with sardar.

Sumit trying a new pissed-off look.

THE GANG

So who is the bigger Chaman

Dono takkar ke hain, C how happy they are to be called Chaman.

On the way to the riverfront.

Miya, Biwi aur Sardar

Chaddidhaari 'Men in Blue'

2 S

Thats 2 Ses getting cosy ;)

At the riverfront

Here's everone taking everyone else's, I mean Photograph

An evening on river Ohio

Mr. and Mrs. Sips

Utti, (dont u think a M in front of Utti wld have made it better ;)

Thats the way Anurag Verma Sir was in his jawani...

A Surd with a broken tooth (Last heard, that broken tooth is the result of one of the several belans Sardar has dealt with after marriage)

A beautiful evening.

Notice the striking similarity in the pose, Now thats what we call a well reharsed pose.

Singhal & Rishi

Here's once again 'Chin-on-hand' pose of the one and only Rishi 'Anurag' Verma.
Finally Sips gets some time away frm Mrs. Sips. She normally doesnt like when Sips shares the frame with others.

And finally we have the initiator of the whole idea, Sumit Singhal, the future CEO and owner of Siemens.

BTW for those who thought that Geet Talkies case is over, here's Chulbaaz being interrogated by Pittsburgh Police; Chulbaaz is the real International Khiladi.

And it required a lot of effort from Rishi (bechara kitna thak gaya tha is ke chalte) and Choubey and his goggles (that chul was wearing) that saved Chul from being roughed up by the police.

Chobs with Surd

As the beautiful evening was nearing its end, we decided to call Tikki. Vishal 'Tikki' Jaiswal was in Oregon and it doesnt seem like he has changed much. BTW he got married, which is good sign for all the bachelors in the batch (whtever lil' are left), for if Tikks can get married anyone can ;)

Pittsburgh Downtown from Mt. Washington

Once more

Myself, Sardar and Chul

That's earlier from the day.
Utti's SRK pose continue and Dewani looks bemused.

Let's Dance baby.

That was Chob's obsession of the day.
'Oori saala, kya kutto type kutta hai'

Pittsburgh downtown from Choubey's Camera, waise isme Camera ka koi dosh nahi hai, Chobs was trying his hand on modern photography.

That's Singhal with the killer pose.

Now some group pics...

One more

Yet Another one

And one more

........

Well one more

And here's bringing the house down.

This BIT Reunion was a great experience to say the least, I'm sure everyone took back with them some nice memories and of course refreshed some of the most beautiful moments of the past.
Here's to BIT and BITians,
Hip Hip Hooray
